Low-cost carrier easyJet announced on 24 September that it will open a new route between Newcastle International Airport (NCL) in the United Kingdom and Larnaca (LCA) in Cyprus, starting 31 March 2027. Flights will operate once a week on Wednesdays and are already on sale through the airline’s website and mobile app. The route is the first direct link between north-east England and Cyprus since 2024 and comes six months after easyJet established a permanent three-aircraft base at Newcastle. The airline has quadrupled its NCL network to 32 destinations in that time, targeting both leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives (VFR) traffic. Newcastle Airport’s aviation-development director described the Larnaca service as "further evidence of easyJet’s commitment to the region". For Cypriot tourism authorities, the weekly rotation will open a fresh catchment of business and leisure travellers from the UK’s north-east and Scottish border regions, supporting the island’s goal of extending the holiday season into the shoulder months. Travel-policy teams at companies with operations in offshore energy, financial services and higher education clusters around Newcastle can now plan non-stop trips for site visits and conferences in Cyprus instead of connecting via London, Manchester or European hubs. Seats start at £79 one way, and packages via easyJet Holidays bundle checked baggage and transfers—an attractive proposition for project teams booking medium-term stays. Corporate-sales managers should, however, note that the service is seasonal for summer 2027; advance block allocations may be necessary if demand warrants year-round frequency.
