Italy’s overseas diplomatic and trade-promotion network is sharpening its focus on corporate mobility and export growth. Speaking in Casablanca on 24 September, Ambassador Pasquale Salzano met ICE-Agency president Matteo Zoppas to review the so-called *Sistema Italia* approach that pools the resources of embassies, consulates, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), export credit bodies (SACE & SIMEST) and state lender CDP. Salzano argued that a coordinated platform is vital as more mid-sized Italian manufacturers open subsidiaries, joint ventures and project sites abroad. 2025-26 ICE figures show a 14 % year-on-year rise in companies seeking “first-time exporter” assistance, while requests for staff-relocation advice grew 17 %. The ambassador highlighted Morocco as an example: accelerated customs lanes at Tangier-Med and a new double-taxation treaty have made it a near-shoring base for Italian automotive and aerospace suppliers. In practice, the embassy now runs quarterly workshops on work-permit procedures, hosts match-making events with Moroccan industrial clusters and provides a fast-track visa desk for Italian technicians. For internationally mobile workforces, the unified model promises shorter lead-times for mission visas, clearer guidance on social-security totalisation, and easier access to export-credit guarantees covering staff costs. Companies are urged to engage early with the diplomatic desks to lock in these advantages.
