With the Mid-Autumn Festival falling on 25 September this year, Hong Kong’s Tourism Board has issued a comprehensive advisory covering the holiday weekend through 27 September. All air, land and sea control points— including the 24-hour Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang and HZMB crossings—will maintain their regular operating hours, and public transport services will run standard schedules with minor frequency tweaks to handle festive crowds. The board has centralised real-time links to Immigration Department passenger-flow dashboards and the Security Bureau’s "Easy Boundary" portal so residents and visitors can check congestion before heading to the border. Travellers are reminded to download the “HK e-Mobility” and “My Observatory” apps for transport and weather updates, as typhoon season overlaps with the festivities. Popular tourist attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland, the Peak Tram, Ocean Park and Star Ferry have published extended opening times, some offering late-night light-show specials. Crowd-control measures are also in place at the new “World of Lanterns” street installation in Causeway Bay, where entry queues will be suspended after 22:00 each night for safety. Although no extraordinary immigration restrictions are planned, officials caution that the festival traditionally triggers a spike in same-day cross-boundary leisure trips and inbound family visits. Employers with globally mobile staff should allow additional transit time and consider flexible scheduling for meetings on 26 September, the post-holiday working day for many overseas partners. For tour operators and airlines, the steady operating hours present an opportunity to run charter services without the curfews imposed during earlier pandemic years. However, transportation providers have been asked to reinforce staffing, and the Transport Department will monitor road traffic hot-spots such as the Lantau Link and Eastern Harbour Tunnel in case ad-hoc lane closures are needed.
