With hundreds of thousands expected to cross between Hong Kong and the Mainland during the Mid-Autumn Festival (25–27 September), the Hong Kong Tourism Board has published a consolidated advisory on border-crossing arrangements. The notice confirms that all major control points—including Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge—will maintain 24-hour passenger and vehicle operations over the three-day period. Travellers are urged to consult the Security Bureau’s ‘Easy Boundary’ one-stop portal for real-time queue indicators, public-transport schedules and e-Channel availability before setting out. The platform aggregates data from Immigration, MTR and bus operators, helping visitors pick the least-congested checkpoint and avoid lengthy waits. Crowd-control measures may be activated at popular attractions such as Victoria Park’s Lantern Spectacular, while some rural hiking trails operate a reservation system to limit environmental impact. Ferry, tram and heritage-bus services will run extended hours; the Star Ferry, for example, will operate until 11:30 pm nightly. Business travellers transiting through Hong Kong should factor in possible road closures on Hong Kong Island and in the New Territories. Corporations with time-critical deliveries across the boundary are advised to schedule crossings outside the traditional evening moon-viewing peak of 7 pm–11 pm. The advisory also reminds visitors to pack light and use contactless payment options, as certain MTR exits and bus bays will restrict oversized luggage during crowd surges.
