Temporary no-fly zone over Stade de France extended through 28 September

The zone, published in the Official Journal by order of 17 September and now confirmed active until 23:59 local time on Monday, 28 September, bans all VFR and most IFR flights below FL 065 within a 4-nautical-mile radius of the stadium in Saint-Denis. Business-aviation operators using Le Bourget and helicopter shuttles to La Défense must file reroute plans, adding approach-holding time during peak hours. The restrictions coincide with the Paris Fashion Week men’s shows, forcing corporate jets to adjust arrival slots or reposition to Toussus-le-Noble and Pontoise. According to Eurocontrol data, 12 slot requests for 27 September were refused outright. For commercial airlines the impact is minimal—arrivals and departures into Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY) remain on standard routings—but crew must brief passengers that drones are strictly prohibited. The Interior Ministry has deployed radio-frequency jamming trucks around the Seine-Saint-Denis perimeter to enforce the ban. Event organisers expect 80 000 worshippers for the Pope’s youth rally but emphasise that ticket-holders should rely on the RER D and B suburban rail lines or dedicated coaches, as ride-share drop-off zones are outside the security perimeter. Mobility teams servicing fashion-industry guests are advising a metro-plus-walk solution from Châtelet or Gare du Nord to avoid potential checkpoints.
