Spanish financial daily Cinco Días reports that Ryanair will grow its winter offer at Madrid-Barajas by 200 000 seats, reaching 3.4 million across 51 routes. Four of the new destinations are Tirana, Gdańsk, Wrocław and Düsseldorf-Weeze, while frequencies increase on 19 existing links including Kraków and Warsaw. For Polish corporates with Iberian interests, the additional capacity means same-day return options and competitive pricing on the Warsaw–Madrid corridor, which is popular with technology and shared-services employees. Exporters in Pomerania and Lower Silesia also gain direct access to Spain’s largest market, reducing dependence on connecting flights via Frankfurt or Munich. Ryanair bases 14 aircraft in Madrid, an investment the airline values at USD 1.4 billion and credits with supporting 5 600 local jobs. As Barajas grows into a major European transfer point, Polish provinces stand to capture inbound leisure and near-shoring business that previously bypassed them. Travel managers should update city-pair approval matrices; the new flights commence with the IATA winter timetable (late-October) and introductory fares from EUR 19.99 are on sale until 2 October. Those planning assignments in Spain’s autonomous communities should monitor potential ATC strike action on 30 September, though Polish routes are expected to be protected under Spain’s minimum-service decree.
