Express-service passports submitted after 26 September will not be released until at least 6 October, while regular service may slip further depending on post-holiday backlogs. Chinese companies in Algeria—principally construction and energy firms—are advising local hires and subcontractors to submit Z- and M-visa applications only after the centre reopens. For multinational mobility teams the closure is another reminder that most Chinese diplomatic missions align their holiday calendars with mainland public holidays, even when those fall on local working days abroad. HR should incorporate buffer time into assignment start-dates and ensure that health-certificate appointments and legalisations sequentially dependent on the visa are not scheduled during the shutdown period. The notice also lists the embassy’s emergency contact email and phone line, which will remain active for humanitarian cases such as medical evacuation. No fast-track channel will be available for commercial travellers. Recruiters bringing Algerian technicians to China’s manufacturing hubs should consider the 30-day visa-free window available to holders of an official invitation under the expanded unilateral waiver policy but must convert to the correct residence permit within that timeframe. Applicants already possessing a valid multiple-entry visa can still travel, but airline check-in agents have been reminded to verify that passports bear at least six months’ validity after entry, as Chinese border officers have tightened checks ahead of the holiday.
