The patrol is the second in as many days after the CCG warned a Philippine Bureau of Fisheries vessel away from the lagoon entrance on 29 September. The CCG said the operation was to ‘safeguard China’s sovereignty and maritime rights,’ but Manila’s National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea condemned the move as harassment of Filipino fishermen.
