Travellers enrolling in or renewing TSA PreCheck will pay more from today, October 1, after IDEMIA—the Department of Homeland Security’s enrollment provider—implemented its first across-the-board pricing adjustment in three years. According to the updated PreCheck portal, a new five-year membership now costs $79.75 (up from $78), while in-person renewals rise to $66.75. Online renewals increase to $58.75. The notice appears under “New UES Fees Effective 10/1/2026.” Although the dollar differences are modest, the change matters for corporate travel budgets that cover hundreds or even thousands of employee enrollments. Companies typically encourage assignees, project engineers and frequent flyers to hold PreCheck or Global Entry to minimize security-line delays that can jeopardize tight connection windows. Assuming a workforce of 500 international travellers, the incremental cost of renewals alone could top $1,300 per cycle. The higher fees also underscore a broader trend: user-pay models for expedited-travel programs. Earlier this year CBP raised Global Entry application fees to $120, and NEXUS is slated for a similar adjustment in January 2027. DHS says the extra revenue funds biometric-technology upgrades and expanded enrollment-center hours—investments that should ultimately speed processing. Employers that subsidize PreCheck should update T&E policies immediately and remind staff to apply online where possible to capture the lower renewal rate. Travellers whose memberships expire before December 31 can still renew early at the old price if they complete payment by 11:59 p.m. Eastern tonight—a grace period not widely advertised on the enrollment site.
