The Czech Embassy in Abuja has overhauled its Schengen-visa booking system, effective 1 October 2026, with details published on 6 October. Under the new rules, applicants travelling for business, professional sports, culture or training must have their Czech host organisation email the consulate directly to secure an appointment. Slots are promised within roughly two weeks, subject to capacity. Tourists, family visitors and airport-transit applicants must continue to register through the standard online lottery, with the next window set for 15 October between 08:00 and 14:00 CEST. Long-term visa and residence-permit procedures are unchanged. For corporate mobility managers moving talent from Nigeria or neighbouring countries, the shift effectively creates a fast-track path, provided a Czech legal entity sponsors the traveller. This should shorten lead times for project kick-offs, sporting transfers and conference participation, but it also places the administrative burden on the Czech host to collate passenger data. The embassy’s clarification comes amid surging demand for Schengen slots in West Africa, where wait times often exceed three months. Organisations are advised to adjust their internal workflows, ensuring invitations are issued early and in the prescribed email format to avoid processing delays.
