The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) reports that the city welcomed 1.143 million visitor arrivals between 1 and 7 October, an average of 163,000 per day and a 15.5 percent jump on last year’s golden week. Mainland Chinese travellers made up 139,000 per day, up 19.6 percent year-on-year. Single-day arrivals hit an all-time National Day record on 3 October, aided by additional high-speed ferry sailings and a temporary relaxation of Zhuhai land-checkpoint quotas. Casino resorts capitalised on the surge by rolling out concert-ticket packages and digital yuan payment rebates, while MGTO organised community street fairs to steer footfall to local SMEs. From a global mobility standpoint, the figures highlight Macao’s appeal as an incentive-travel destination for companies with teams in Greater China. Conference venues at Cotai Strip properties reportedly operated near capacity, underscoring the need for early reservation during mainland holiday periods. MGTO said it will keep daily visitor dashboards online even after the golden week to improve transparency for event planners and residents.
