National operator Bus Éireann issued a service update at 07:52 on 9 October highlighting significant disruption across its South-East and Eastern networks. Among the affected services are several routes serving Dublin Airport, including the 06:00 Route 2 express to Wexford and the 05:48 Route 109A from Kells, each delayed by about 20 minutes. Two Route 101 services between Drogheda and Dublin were cancelled outright, and additional cancellations were flagged on orbital Routes NV1 and NV2. The company attributed the problems to operational staffing shortages coupled with adverse weather that has caused localised flooding on some arterial roads. Real-time information is being pushed to the TFI Live app and Bus Éireann’s social-media channels, but passengers have been advised to check updates frequently and allow extra transfer time—particularly those connecting with morning flights. For mobility managers, the disruption highlights the vulnerability of first- and last-mile ground transport to unforeseen events. Firms with employees or assignees relying on coach links to Dublin Airport should consider contingency options such as shared taxis or park-and-ride facilities until normal scheduling resumes. Bus Éireann apologised for the inconvenience and said it is reallocating drivers and vehicles to critical airport corridors as a priority. Further bulletins are expected throughout the day.
