With large-scale protests expected in central Delhi, the city’s Traffic Police published an advisory at 06:00 hrs on 12 October imposing rolling road closures around Connaught Place, Dhaula Kuan, Patel Chowk and key radial corridors until midnight. The notice urges residents to “avoid non-essential travel” and specifically cautions passengers to “keep extra time for railway stations and IGI Airport”. The restrictions coincide with the Autumn session of Parliament and a march by civil-society groups to the Supreme Court, events that typically attract heavy security cordons. Vehicle checks at border points have already lengthened taxi rides from Gurgaon and Noida by 30-45 minutes. For international travellers, the diversions can upend meticulously timed drop-offs under India’s 75-minute airport security rule. Travel-management companies recommend shifting pick-ups earlier, pre-booking FASTag-enabled cabs to access designated lanes and carrying digital boarding passes to expedite CISF outer-cordon checks. Corporates running assignee orientation programmes in the capital have been advised to move sessions online or to satellite offices in Aerocity for the day. Embassy shuttles are also re-routing via the Ring Road and NH-48 to skirt central barricades. While the advisory nominally ends at 23:59, experience suggests sporadic barricades can persist; travellers connecting to early-morning outbound flights on 13 October should monitor @dtptraffic on X for real-time updates.
