RATP, the Paris public-transport operator, has confirmed that from 22:00 on 20 and 21 October several central stations—including République, Châtelet and Les Halles—will close at the request of the Préfecture de Police. Trains on métro lines 1, 4, 11 and RER A/B will pass through without stopping; onward connections will not be available. The security measure is designed to prevent large gatherings in areas that were flashpoints during last weekend’s unrest. Passengers needing to reach late-night Eurostar, TGV or airport services are advised to transfer at Denfert-Rochereau or Gare de Lyon instead. RATP warns that crowding is likely at open stations and that journey times could increase by 30–40 minutes. For mobility and relocation managers, the closures could disrupt assignees commuting to tech offices around the Les Halles district, as well as travellers staying in Right-Bank hotels who rely on the RER to Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. Employers should validate taxi budgets for late shifts and remind staff that ride-hailing zones are also restricted inside the curfew perimeter. The closures follow the government’s wider curfew strategy and may be extended to additional stations if protests spread. Travellers should monitor real-time updates on the RATP app and opt into SMS alerts.
