Brazil’s Receita Federal issued Communication 021/2026 on 21 October announcing a six-hour shutdown of the Portal Único Siscomex—Brazil’s single-window foreign-trade platform—on Saturday, 31 October 2026 from 08:00 to 14:00 BRT. The outage will install the “Release Azuis”, the biggest code push since the Novo Processo de Importação (NPI) went live. The update introduces modules designed to replace legacy import declarations and to align the system with the country’s sweeping Consumption Tax Reform. During the window, all import/export services—including DUIMP, DU-E, Catálogo de Produtos, LPCO licensing, Trânsito Aduaneiro and the OEA trusted-trader portal—will be offline. Freight forwarders, customs brokers and multinational supply-chain teams have been told to avoid scheduling cargo clearances, hand-carried commercial samples or AOG (aircraft-on-ground) spare-parts imports in the affected timeframe. Although the maintenance occurs outside normal business hours, global mobility managers need to flag the blackout for assignees arriving with unaccompanied household goods or corporate equipment that require immediate customs release. Executives returning from overseas with samples or demo kits could experience delays if their arrival coincides with the outage. The new release also changes several APIs used by large exporters and logistics providers to feed data automatically into Siscomex. IT departments must validate integration scripts against the updated technical documentation published on 21 October; failure to adjust could trigger filing errors when the system restarts. Long term, Receita Federal expects the upgrade to cut clearance times by 20 %, eliminating duplicate data entry between import and tax systems. Mobility stakeholders should monitor further communiqués and consider contingency storage or courier options for time-critical shipments crossing Brazilian borders during the last weekend of October.
