Finland’s Digital and Population Data Services Agency announced on 21 October that the Suomi.fi Open-Data platform would remain offline all day due to “urgent maintenance work”. The outage affects all open-data environments, which many third-party apps use to call authentication and population-registry interfaces. While the core Suomi.fi Identity and Authorisations services remain up, developers confirm that some real-time address-validation and company-mandate checks are failing. As a result, immigration advisers have reported sporadic errors when submitting online residence-permit applications through Enter Finland, whose backend pings Suomi.fi for certain population records. Start-up founders and relocation consultancies, heavy users of automated KYC workflows, may need to fall back on manual document uploads if integrations time out. The agency says the maintenance was unplanned and linked to database integrity checks following the day’s wider PHP security incident. No personal data has been compromised, and the agency expects normal service to resume on 22 October. In the meantime, users should save session data locally and avoid peak-hour retries, which could overload fallback servers.
