Leisure carrier Jet2.com has responded to strong early bookings by extending its newly announced Birmingham–Enfidha route four weeks beyond the original summer 2027 schedule. Twice-weekly services will now operate until 27 November 2027 and resume from 12 February 2028, giving Midlands travellers a rare direct winter link to Tunisia. The move underscores Birmingham Airport’s strategy to capture more long-haul leisure demand and reduce leakage to London. Airport operator BHX reports record passenger numbers and is midway through a £300 million transformation that will expand security halls and create additional aircraft stands—capacity that Jet2 is keen to exploit before rival low-cost carriers secure the slots. For corporate travel managers the primary benefit is increased seat availability during UK school-holiday peaks, easing price pressure on flexible economy fares. The route also adds an option for project teams heading to Tunisia’s growing renewable-energy sector without transiting via Paris or Istanbul. Foreign-office advice currently rates Tunisia’s main holiday regions as safe but reminds business travellers that bringing drones or high-resolution cameras requires prior Ministry of Defence clearance. Companies should update risk-assessments accordingly.
