A precautionary freeze would paralyse ongoing filings, forcing companies that planned to move freelance or irregular workers onto their Spanish payrolls to hit pause. Immigration counsel recommend accelerating documentation now—especially police certificates—so that, if the court declines to suspend the decree, applications are ready to lodge before any further legal twists. Most analysts expect the court to reject an outright freeze but potentially fast-track a full review of the measure’s legality later this year. Even that scenario creates uncertainty for HR departments building 2027 staffing models based on the new talent pool. Contingency planning, insiders say, should include alternative visa categories such as the EU family exemption or the highly qualified professional permit.
