Air Transat launches first North American nonstop to Agadir from Montreal
Montreal-based Air Transat has inaugurated weekly seasonal service between Montréal–Trudeau (YUL) and Agadir (AGA), making it the only airline to offer nonstop flights from North America to Morocco’s Atlantic-coast resort city. Flight TS492 departed 12 June 2026 and the public announcement was issued on 15 June. The route, operated with 199-seat Airbus A321LR aircraft, complements Air Transat’s existing Marrakech service and reflects rising demand for leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives (VFR) travel between Quebec and Morocco. ADM Aéroports de Montréal says Morocco is now YUL’s fastest-growing African market, with traffic up 27 % year-over-year. For the global mobility sector, the flight provides a direct corridor for Canadian mining, engineering and agrifood firms active in southern Morocco, cutting travel times by up to five hours compared with itineraries routed via Casablanca or European hubs. Small and medium-sized enterprises can access cargo capacity for time-sensitive shipments such as aerospace components produced in Quebec. Agadir’s regional development agency expects the connection to generate CAD 18 million in tourism spending and to bolster bilateral trade, which surpassed CAD 740 million in 2025.

Travellers booking the new service should also confirm visa and entry requirements well in advance. VisaHQ’s Canada portal (https://www.visahq.com/canada/) provides step-by-step guidance for Canadian passport holders and foreign residents needing Moroccan visas, and can streamline documentation for businesses sending staff or cargo through multiple jurisdictions beyond Agadir.

The service also diversifies Transat’s long-haul offering ahead of peak summer demand while utilising the fuel-efficient A321LR to manage operating costs amid volatile jet-fuel prices. Corporate travel buyers should verify whether their negotiated Transat fares include Club Class upgrades on the new route and note the flight operates Fridays until 23 October 2026, aligning with Saturday project-mobilisation cycles common in extractive industries.
