Enter Finland e-service down for maintenance on 16 June, online residence-permit filings temporarily halted
The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) announced a two-hour service break for its Enter Finland e-service on Tuesday 16 June between 17:15 and 19:15 EEST. The portal is the primary channel for submitting residence-permit, citizenship and EU-registration applications; more than 85 % of corporate-sponsored filings now begin online. According to Migri, the outage was necessary to install security updates linked to the forthcoming EU Entry/Exit System (EES).

Travellers caught off guard by such planned or unplanned outages can lean on VisaHQ for assistance; the firm tracks Finnish consular and e-service availability in real time, helps applicants assemble compliant packets and can even lodge submissions on their behalf when Enter Finland is offline. During the window, no new applications could be started or paid for, and users already in the process of completing forms risked losing unsaved data. The agency advised applicants with imminent travel plans to log in after 19:30 to confirm that their draft had been saved and payment registered. For employers, the interruption coincided with peak summer on-boarding. Several global mobility teams told Global Mobility News they rescheduled appointment bookings at VFS Global service centres to avoid data-integration errors. “A two-hour gap may sound minor, but if it hits right before a payroll cut-off, start dates can slip,” said Helena Koivunen, mobility lead at KONE. Migri said no backlog is expected: automated case-entry systems would process queued submissions overnight, and biometric appointments booked for the next day remain valid. Nevertheless, practitioners recommend downloading application receipts immediately after submission and keeping signed employment contracts on hand in case of system instability during the broader EES roll-out later this year.
