Paris extends night-long public transport and launches €4.30 ‘Fête de la Musique’ ticket for 21 June 2026
For visitors, commuters and corporate travellers who will be in the French capital on Sunday 21 June 2026, getting around the city after dark will be considerably easier than usual. The Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) confirmed that a special flat-fare ticket—the “Forfait Fête de la Musique”—will be on sale for €4.30. Valid from 17:00 on 21 June until 07:00 on 22 June, the pass allows unlimited travel on the entire Île-de-France public-transport network (metro, RER, trains, trams, buses and the C1 cable car), with the sole exception of dedicated airport shuttles such as Orlyval. Travellers can load the product directly onto any Navigo smart-card or onto their phone via the Bonjour RATP or Île-de-France Mobilités apps, and may also purchase it at station ticket machines throughout the region.

In addition to the special ticket, RATP is keeping dozens of metro and RER stations open well past the standard 01:15 closing time. According to the City of Paris events portal, many key transfer points—including Châtelet, Gare de Lyon, Saint-Lazare and Nation—will remain accessible into the early hours to absorb concert-goers and tourists moving between the hundreds of free performances organised for the national music festival. The extended hours apply to selected night-bus lines as well.

International attendees flying in for Fête de la Musique who still need to arrange a Schengen visa can streamline the paperwork online before they arrive. VisaHQ’s France portal (https://www.visahq.com/france/) walks applicants through each requirement, offers live support in multiple languages, and can even expedite processing for tight itineraries—ensuring that once in Paris they can focus on enjoying the metro’s all-night service instead of queuing at consulates.

Safety and crowd-management measures have also been scaled up. Paris city hall is deploying a “Safe Place” harm-reduction zone on the Parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville from 15:00 until 02:00, staffed by trained counsellors to assist vulnerable revellers and coordinate with emergency services. Transport staff have been briefed to monitor platforms for heat-related incidents, as forecasters predict temperatures above 30 °C.

For business-mobility managers, the changes remove a perennial headache. Employees attending evening client events or site visits on 21 June will not need to rely on taxis or ride-hailing services that often surge in price when the streets are closed to traffic. Companies that reimburse ground transport can encourage use of the €4.30 pass, lowering costs and CO₂ output compared with individual car trips.

Travellers connecting at Paris-CDG or Orly during the night of 21-22 June should, however, note that Orlyval remains excluded from the deal and plan accordingly.

This annual operational upgrade also serves as a rehearsal for the 2027 Rugby World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics, when Paris will again need to guarantee round-the-clock mobility for large international crowds. Lessons learned this weekend—particularly around digital ticketing capacity and real-time passenger information—will feed into those larger-scale transport plans, according to RATP’s summer-works bulletin.
