Adani Mundra Airport’s first scheduled flights boost Kutch’s business travel options
Adani Mundra Airport in Gujarat’s Kutch district has launched its inaugural scheduled passenger services, linking the emerging logistics hub with Mumbai and Goa via regional carrier Star Air. Eight additional domestic connections—including Bengaluru, Surat and Hindon—will follow in phases, supported by a 1,900-metre runway capable of handling ATRs and A320-family jets. The airport sits adjacent to India’s largest private port and the 8,000-hectare Mundra SEZ. Until now, executives and technicians working at the port or SEZ faced a five-hour drive from Bhuj airport. Direct flights cut door-to-door times to under 90 minutes, a boon for shipping lines, renewable-energy firms and data-centre operators that rely on rapid crew rotation and just-in-time maintenance support. Adani says the move creates an integrated sea-air logistics corridor, allowing high-value components to fly in for onward export by vessel and vice-versa.

Business travelers coming from overseas will still need the appropriate Indian visa. VisaHQ’s online platform (https://www.visahq.com/india/) streamlines the process by providing up-to-date requirements, digital application assistance and door-to-door passport courier services, ensuring executives can take advantage of the new Mundra connections without administrative delays.

The group, which also operates airports in Mumbai, Lucknow and Jaipur, plans a bonded trucking lane between the runway and port container yards to speed customs-cleared trans-shipment. While the new services are domestic, they form part of India’s UDAN regional-connectivity scheme, which ultimately feeds international gateways. Mobility planners should note that Mundra’s code will enter global distribution systems in July, enabling through-ticketing from overseas origins via Mumbai. Accommodation demand is expected to rise; hotel chains have already announced three new properties in the vicinity. For multinational companies with projects in Gujarat’s renewable-energy corridor, the airport dramatically lowers travel fatigue and supports tighter installation schedules—important as India races to meet its 2030 green-power targets.
