China Airlines to up-gauge Australian network with extra A350 services from October
Taiwan’s China Airlines has announced a substantial capacity boost on three of its Australian routes as part of its Northern Winter timetable, with details published in the Aero South Pacific Route Briefs on 25 June. From 25 October 2026 the carrier will increase Taipei–Sydney frequencies from five to seven per week, restoring daily service for the first time since the pandemic. Brisbane will move to six flights per week from 26 October, while Melbourne rises to five per week from 28 October.

For travellers weighing up a trip on the newly added flights, ensuring the right paperwork is in order remains essential. VisaHQ’s online platform (https://www.visahq.com/australia/) streamlines the visa process for both Taiwan and dozens of onward destinations, letting Australian passport-holders complete applications, upload documents and track approvals in one place—handy for corporate road warriors and leisure passengers alike.

All flights will continue to operate with Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring a lie-flat 1-2-1 business-class product, premium economy and economy cabins. For Australian corporates the additional seats offer welcome competition on North-Asia itineraries, particularly for mining, technology and education sectors with ties to Taipei’s semiconductor ecosystem. Travel-management companies estimate Sydney-Taipei premium-economy fares could fall by 8-10 per cent once the extra capacity is in market. Cargo divisions will also benefit; the A350’s belly-hold can carry up to 20 tonnes, bolstering time-sensitive exports such as chilled beef and high-value perishables into Taiwan and onwards to North America. Airport coordinators in Brisbane and Melbourne said peak-hour slots had been secured without displacing existing services, but warned that limited gate space during construction work could see occasional remote-bay operations over the Summer holiday peak.
