Indian Embassy issues 11-point advisory for Thailand trips after visa-waiver rollback
India’s mission in Bangkok on 3 July circulated an 11-point checklist for Indian nationals travelling to Thailand, following Bangkok’s May decision to scrap the 60-day visa-free facility for 93 countries. The advisory stresses that visitors opting for visa-on-arrival must hold at least THB 20,000 in cash, confirmed hotel bookings and return tickets, and must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of travel. The notice also discourages travellers with job offers from entering on tourist status, warning of possible detention and black-listing. Mobility managers sending staff for short projects should therefore ensure the correct Non-Immigrant ‘B’ visa is secured in advance.

VisaHQ’s India portal (https://www.visahq.com/india/) can simplify that step: the service guides applicants through every form, double-checks supporting documents and tracks submissions in real time, helping both individual travellers and corporate mobility teams avoid last-minute snags with Thai visa rules and many other global destinations.

Thailand is India’s sixth-largest outbound leisure market and a popular venue for incentive conferences. The stricter cash-proof rule could affect young business travellers expecting to pay by card; companies may need to provide per-diem cash or prepaid forex cards. Airlines have been told to enforce the documentation requirements at check-in, raising the risk of denied boarding. Travel-management companies are updating duty-of-care alerts accordingly.
