Prague Vodochody Airport Closed 6–17 July for Runway Resurfacing
Prague Vodochody Airport (LKVO)—the Czech Republic’s largest privately operated business-aviation hub—has suspended all flight operations from 6 to 17 July 2026 to allow complete resurfacing of its 2 500-metre asphalt runway. The closure, announced in the airport’s "For Pilots" bulletin on 6 July and confirmed again this morning, affects corporate jet traffic, flight-training schools and maintenance repositioning flights. During the 12-day shutdown, operators are being re-routed to Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) or to secondary airports in Brno and Karlovy Vary.

Travel coordinators juggling revised routings should also remember the immigration piece: VisaHQ can expedite Czech entry visas for crew and passengers through its dedicated portal, offering up-to-date consular requirements and courier service so that documentation keeps pace with last-minute slot changes.

Handling agents report slot availability at PRG remains adequate, but overnight parking is tight because of peak-season charter demand. Crews should also note that Vodochody’s Radio Mandatory Zone (RMZ LKRMZ2) is inactive during the works. For multinational companies with corporate shuttles, the maintenance works may require schedule adjustments and—where time-critical freight is involved—alternative ground transportation. Charter brokers are advising clients to allow additional lead time for PRG slots, while flight-training organisations have moved practice circuits to regional aerodromes. The CZK 130 million project will lay a high-performance surface designed to reduce foreign-object debris and improve braking in wet conditions. Management says the new pavement, along with LED centre-line lighting scheduled for installation in August, will support the airport’s bid to attract more long-range bizjets and occasional military charter flights. Vodochody’s reopening on 18 July should restore normal operations, but pilots must obtain Prior Permission Required (PPR) at least 24 hours in advance for the first week as final calibrations are completed.
