Italy’s national mobility information service InfoViaggiando issued a highway bulletin today announcing that from 22:00 on Wednesday 15 July until 05:30 on Thursday 16 July, the junction linking the A4 Venice–Trieste motorway with the A57 Mestre bypass will be completely closed in the direction of Trieste. The closure is part of ongoing asphalt resurfacing works ahead of the August holiday exodus. The detour diverts eastbound traffic toward the Mira-Oriago exit before re-joining the A4, adding approximately 12 kilometres and 15–20 minutes to transit times under normal conditions. Heavy-goods vehicles heading to the Port of Trieste or on-forwarding to Slovenia and Croatia are advised to reroute via the A27/A28 network or schedule departures outside the closure window. Global logistics providers such as DB Schenker and DHL have issued client advisories predicting potential knock-on delays for time-critical medical and automotive shipments that use the Adriatic gateway. Companies operating “just-in-sequence” supply chains to Central Europe should adjust delivery timetables or increase buffer stock at regional distribution centres. Passenger vehicles, including coaches serving popular seaside resorts in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, will be funnelled onto alternative lanes, and queues are expected to crest around midnight as holidaymakers depart the Veneto region. Digital tolling remains active; users with Telepass will still be charged the standard route even if diverted. The works underline a broader pattern of nocturnal motorway closures across northern Italy this summer. Mobility managers should map staff journeys against the evolving works calendar and counsel drivers to download the official Muoversi in Veneto app for live traffic alerts.
