Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 195 invitations—its highest total of 2026—to candidates in its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held July 16, with results published on July 20. Invitations went primarily to international graduates and foreign workers already in the province through the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry streams, a strategy the province says targets sectors facing acute shortages. PEI is unique among provinces in that it publishes its entire annual draw calendar in advance, giving employers and would-be immigrants greater predictability. With seven of 12 draws now completed, the province has invited 853 candidates this year. The next round is scheduled for August 20, although officials reserve the right to adjust dates based on labour-market needs. For businesses in PEI’s booming bioscience, tourism and clean-tech sectors, the larger draw offers a chance to retain temporary foreign workers whose permits may be expiring. Nominees receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points if they subsequently enter the federal Express Entry pool, virtually guaranteeing permanent residence. Employers should ensure they remain designated under PEI’s employer portal and prepare offer-of-employment documentation early, as nominees have only 30 days to submit a full application once invited.
