The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Doha has announced an exceptionally tight registration window for long-term visas aimed at seasonal workers. According to an embassy notice updated on 22 July and highlighted again on 25 July 2026, applicants must register online between 11:00 and 17:00 local time on 25 July 2026 to secure an appointment for visas covering employment in August, September and October. The move follows the embassy’s return to full operations after a spring shutdown triggered by regional security incidents. To manage heavy demand – particularly from hospitality and construction employers seeking staff for the Czech tourist high-season – Doha is running “slot days” where all available appointments are released at once. Embassy officials say the six-hour window is necessary to keep the booking system from being overwhelmed by bots and third-party agencies. For Czech companies that recruit workers from Qatar and neighbouring Gulf states, the compressed timeline requires meticulous preparation. Required documents, including labour contracts, proof of accommodation and medical insurance, must be ready in advance; incomplete uploads cannot be amended once the slot is booked. Employers are advised to pre-verify that candidates’ passports have at least two blank visa pages and 18 months’ validity – a common stumbling block that has led to forfeited slots in previous rounds. Labour agents note that demand is likely to outstrip supply: since 1 July, the embassy’s quota for non-jurisdiction employee-card applications has been set to zero, pushing more employers to use the seasonal-employment route instead of the longer-term employee card. Failure to obtain appointments this round could delay start dates until November, complicating staffing of Czech spas, ski-resorts and food-processing plants that ramp up in autumn. HR teams should monitor the embassy website and set reminders for the narrow registration window. They should also warn candidates not to rely on walk-in requests: the embassy reiterates that only pre-registered applicants will be admitted, and that proxy bookings are prohibited.
