According to the GCAA statement, the precautionary step was taken after a “comprehensive and thorough assessment of security and operational risks” and in full coordination with international air-navigation partners. The authority stressed that only corridors deemed at risk have been suspended and that UAE airports remain operational, but it urged airlines to reroute around affected zones and warned passengers to expect short-notice delays and cancellations. For businesses, the decision revives memories of the blanket closure of 28 February, which paralysed regional supply chains for 36 hours. Multinationals moving staff through Dubai and Abu Dhabi hubs should refresh their crisis-management protocols, reconfirm duty-of-care arrangements and keep mobile workforces informed via real-time tracking tools. Travel managers are advised to build extra connection buffers, as reroutings around Iranian and Iraqi FIRs add 45-90 minutes to typical Europe–Asia flight times. The GCAA emphasised that the measure will be reviewed “continuously and in real time.” If the security picture stabilises quickly, closures could be lifted within hours; however, a protracted conflict scenario would pressure hotel capacity, cargo flows and corporate relocation timelines.
