Geneva Airport has issued an updated travel advisory highlighting that the Ferney road tunnel—one of the two main road links from France to the airport—remains closed every night from Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 – 05:00. The works, part of the Tram Nations–Grand-Saconnex (TNGS) project, began on 5 July and will continue for roughly 18 months. During the closure, vehicles are diverted via the Vireloup customs post. Access to the French Sector of the terminal (car rentals, parking P20 and check-in desks for certain flights) is maintained, but passengers must factor in additional travel time. The advisory is particularly relevant for evening arrivals from late flights that land shortly before the curfew and for early-morning business travellers trying to catch the first wave of departures. Car-hire providers say they have adjusted shuttle schedules, yet report that unaware travellers have missed rental-return windows and incurred out-of-hours fees. Airlines operating crew hotels on the French side have asked staff to shift their ground-transport requests to earlier slots to avoid overtime charges. Genève Aéroport recommends that passengers departing between 06:00 and 08:00 cross the border into Switzerland the evening before or allow an extra 30 minutes if travelling via Ferney-Voltaire. Ride-hailing companies active in the region have geofenced the tunnel, automatically rerouting pick-ups. Corporate travel managers with crews or consultants transiting through GVA should update ground-transfer instructions accordingly.
