The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai (GDRFA) quietly rolled out a new “Schengen Citizens Visa Calculator” on its public portal on 28 July 2026, simplifying compliance for European visitors who can spend up to 90 days in the UAE within any 180-day period. The free tool allows travellers to input past and planned travel dates and instantly see how many allowable days remain, mirroring the popular calculator used by EU border authorities. Overstays can result in fines of AED 50 per day and potential future entry bans, making accurate tracking essential for consultants, digital nomads and project-based specialists who make frequent short trips to Dubai. Although aimed at Schengen-area nationals who benefit from the UAE’s 90-day visa-on-arrival, the calculator is equally useful for HR departments managing in-and-out rotators. Employers can export data to CSV format, enabling easier integration with travel-risk dashboards and payroll tax assessments. GDRFA said the launch forms part of its broader smart-services roadmap, which includes predictive overstay alerts linked to the immigration e-gates and an upcoming API that licensed relocation firms can plug into their client portals. Future iterations will factor in GCC border crossings and multiple-entry tourist visas. Companies are advised to circulate the link to travelling employees and use the tool during trip-approval workflows to avoid costly penalties and delays at exit control.
