An Garda Síochána has published an extensive traffic and security plan ahead of the informal meeting of EU Fisheries Ministers taking place in Cork on 28–29 July 2026. Delegations from all 27 member states as well as Commission officials will be ferried between Cork Airport, the city centre and coastal site visits, creating rolling road closures on the N27, South Ring Road and quays. Public transport is being prioritised, with Bus Éireann and Irish Rail confirming schedule tweaks to maintain connectivity. Gardaí say real-time diversions will be pushed to the TFI app and social media, echoing the model used during last month’s OECD tax summit in Dublin. Air-space will also be temporarily restricted. The Irish Aviation Authority has issued a NOTAM establishing a 3-nautical-mile, 2 000-foot security cordon over Fota Island resort from 06:00 UTC Tuesday until 20:00 UTC Wednesday. Commercial flights into Cork Airport are unaffected, but drones and general aviation are banned unless specifically authorised. For mobility managers the key takeaway is to vet all chauffeur and courier movements against the rolling “green routes” published by Gardaí. Employers hosting side meetings should allow additional travel time and remind delegates that passports are required for hotel check-in under Ireland’s Registration of Guests Act. The summit is one of more than 150 high-level events Ireland will host during its rotating EU Council Presidency. The security template trialled in Cork is expected to be replicated for the larger Foreign Affairs Council in September, meaning early liaison with accommodation and transport providers will be essential.
