Emirates has launched a global student-travel promotion that offers up to 10 per cent off Economy-class and 5 per cent off Premium Economy and Business fares, plus an additional 10 kg or one extra piece of checked baggage on most routes. The deal, announced July 30, is open to travellers aged 16–31 booking with the promo code ‘STUDENT’ by March 31 2027. For UAE universities preparing for the September intake—and for multinational employers flying interns to Dubai—the sweetener eases cost pressures just as airfares climb on the back of longer routings and higher fuel prices. Students must present a valid ID or acceptance letter at check-in, and the offer excludes itineraries to or from the US and Canada owing to bilateral baggage limits. The initiative dovetails with Emirates’ strategy to capture lifetime customer loyalty early. Last year the airline introduced deferred-payment options and waived change fees for youth travellers. It is now layering in flexibility, allowing one free date change within 12 months, which could prove handy if university visa issues delay departure. Cryptocurrency enthusiasts will note that the carrier simultaneously expanded its Crypto.com partnership, letting UAE-resident students pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDC for fares denominated in dirhams. The integration complies with the Central Bank’s new Stored-Value Facility rules, signalling how travel-payment ecosystems are evolving alongside visa digitisation. Corporate mobility teams should flag the discount to graduate-hires and scholarship holders and confirm whether extra baggage alters negotiated rate baselines under their existing Emirates Business Rewards contracts.
