Key changes include an additional Hong Kong-to-Airport departure at 00:48 and a return AsiaWorld-Expo-to-Central train at 01:13, trimming headways to 23 minutes in the midnight window. The fastest city-centre-to-terminal run remains 24 minutes. While the timetable technically went live a day earlier, most business-traveller apps updated schedules on 14 September, prompting a flurry of itinerary tweaks by travel managers keen to avoid pricey overnight stays. Cathay Pacific says 6 per cent of its inbound passengers depart HKIA after 23:30, making the extra service a welcome alternative to taxis. The move complements HKIA’s expansion of all-night e-channel operations and comes as Hong Kong targets record visitor numbers during China’s National-Day holidays. Airport Express ridership has already climbed back to 65 per cent of 2019 levels, aided by fare promotions bundled with Octopus transit cards. Corporate-mobility policies should be updated to reflect the last-train times, especially for assignees arriving on late-evening flights from Europe and the Middle East. Companies that reimburse private transfers may reap savings by shifting travellers to the rail link. Looking ahead, MTR plans to pilot AI-driven crowd-management on Airport Express platforms by December, integrating flight delay data to dynamically adjust train frequency—a further boost to the city’s seamless-arrival proposition.
