Travellers driving to Václav Havel Airport Prague face detours after authorities closed the main exit from the Kladno–Slaný direction for emergency roadworks. The airport issued a red-banner notice warning that the closure, in force from 9 to 25 September, could add 15–30 minutes to journey times during peak hours. While the repair work was planned months in advance, traffic volumes have surged due to the NATO Days air show in Ostrava and the Prague Castle Crown Jewels exhibition, creating an unseasonably busy weekend for the capital’s transport network. Ride-hailing firms Bolt and Uber report pick-up delays of up to 20 minutes on the airport forecourt. Airport officials recommend that business travellers heading to early-morning flights book parking spaces in advance or use the Airport Express rail-bus from Hlavní nádraží, which bypasses the closure via the city ring road. Airlines have been asked to broadcast the advisory on inbound flights so that connecting passengers re-booking cars are aware of possible delays at collection. The works are part of a wider CZK 320 million upgrade of the D7 corridor that feeds the airport and several logistics parks, intended to relieve chronic congestion ahead of the 2028 World Ice Hockey Championships, when Prague expects record passenger numbers. Shuttle-bus operators serving nearby hotels say they will stage additional departures every 20 minutes until the road re-opens.
