Prague Integrated Transport (PID) has announced same-day engineering works on the busy Praha-Vršovice – Praha hlavní nádraží corridor, cutting direct rail service between the city’s two largest stations from noon on 19 September. Replacement buses and rerouted metro connections will operate until late evening, with knock-on delays expected for some international trains to Vienna, Bratislava and Dresden that normally reverse at the main station. The 4-kilometre stretch handles up to 300 commuter and long-distance services daily, including the ČD Railjet and RegioJet expresses favoured by corporate travellers. Infrastructure manager Správa železnic is accelerating ballast renewal and signalling upgrades ahead of the winter timetable change, taking advantage of a 12-hour Saturday window to minimise weekday disruption. Passengers arriving from Prague Airport via the Airport Express bus are advised to stay on board to Masarykovo nádraží or use metro line C to Florenc for onward international trains. Ticket validity is being extended to cover alternative routes, and digital journey planners have been updated. Businesses should warn assignees and visiting executives that door-to-door transfers across the city could take 20–30 minutes longer. Luggage-storage services at both impacted stations will stay open late to accommodate travellers forced to wait for replacement buses.
