The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau has released its operating timetable for exit-entry document services during the forthcoming “Golden Week” break. According to the 21 September announcement, all city-wide service halls will be closed from 25 to 27 September for the Mid-Autumn Festival and from 1 to 5 October for National Day. Limited windows will open on 28–30 September to handle urgent passport pick-ups, mainland travel permits for Hong Kong/Macao and humanitarian visas. Applicants can still book appointments online, but available slots on 28–30 September are expected to fill quickly. The bureau recommends that residents intending to travel overseas during Golden Week complete applications no later than 22 September. Express processing—normally three working days—will be suspended during the closure and resume on 6 October; standard processing will be extended by the number of closure days. For corporate mobility teams, the key takeaway is to bring forward any new work-permit endorsement or residence-permit renewal filings for employees based in Beijing. Failure to renew before the holiday could leave travellers unable to exit the country, as airlines are required to verify that residence permits are valid for at least 7 days on the date of departure. The bureau’s 24-hour hotline 12367 will remain active for emergency queries, and self-service kiosks at Capital and Daxing airports will continue to issue automated re-entry slips for Chinese citizens holding electronic passports.
