According to figures released by China State Railway Group on 19 September, the system carried 3.32 billion passengers in the first eight months of 2026—3.9 percent more than the same period last year. Daily operations averaged 11,508 passenger trains, reflecting both network expansion and a rebound in domestic tourism.
