Chief Mountain saw nearly 54,000 inbound travellers this summer, about five thousand more than in 2025. The surge underscores a strong rebound in cross-border road tourism, propelled by a weak Canadian dollar and pent-up demand for back-country recreation. Local businesses, however, must now pivot to shoulder-season strategies that do not rely on spontaneous U.S. drive-in traffic.
