Chaired by Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, an inter-departmental working group on 23 September approved a raft of crowd-management measures to ensure smooth passenger flows over the upcoming National Day Golden Week. Central to the plan is “Easy Boundary”, a one-stop online dashboard that displays real-time waiting times at all land crossings, HZMB shuttle-bus frequencies, and the live status of e-channels. The Security Bureau says the dashboard, accessible via web and mobile, will give residents and visitors data-driven options to stagger their travel. It combines feeds from Immigration, Customs, the Transport Department and the Hong Kong Observatory so users can check weather alerts alongside clearance queues. Additionally, opening hours at Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Shenzhen Bay control points will be extended by up to two hours on peak days, and 100 extra e-channels will be activated city-wide. Taxi stands and franchised-bus bays have been re-zoned to reduce bottlenecks, while MTR has arranged standby trains for late-evening surges. For corporates moving staff or goods across the boundary, the new platform offers actionable intelligence. Logistics firms can reroute trucks in real time, and HR teams can advise employees on low-traffic windows. The move also signals Hong Kong’s push to digitise border management—aligned with China’s broader smart-port strategy. Authorities urge travellers to consult Easy Boundary before departure and to allow extra transit time, noting that unexpected weather or public-order incidents could still cause delays.
