Austrian Airlines Adds 100 Extra Flights for Autumn Holidays and Ramps Up Winter Asia Network

Austrian Airlines (AUA) announced on 24 September 2026 that it will operate more than 100 additional flights during Austria’s late-October school holidays, effectively extending its summer schedule. The move targets leisure demand but also benefits corporate travellers seeking short-notice meetings in Southern Europe before the winter timetable kicks in. The carrier is boosting frequencies to Palma de Mallorca (11 extra rotations) and Larnaca (13), while maintaining extended service to Ibiza, Funchal, Olbia and Split. Mainland destinations such as Rome, Florence, London and Amsterdam also receive extra capacity, offering business passengers more day-trip options and tighter connection windows via Vienna. Looking further ahead, AUA’s 2026/27 winter plan pivots strategic lift toward Asia and the Indian Ocean. Malé and Mauritius will see up to ten weekly services at peak, with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners scheduled on the Mauritius run from mid-January. Bangkok’s “Double Daily” returns for the first two winter months, while Dubai maintains a five-weekly Airbus A320-neo schedule. The expansion comes as Vienna Airport reports a 5.3 % rise in long-haul premium-cabin demand year-to-date. For mobility managers the added flights translate into greater seat availability and potentially lower fares during a traditionally constrained period. Travellers should, however, monitor aircraft swaps on North-Atlantic routes, where AUA plans short pauses in January. Tickets for the autumn and winter services are already on sale; travel buyers locking in budgets for Q4 2026 and Q1 2027 may wish to capitalise on promotional fares before dynamic pricing responds to heightened demand.
