Qantas has quietly updated its travel-advisory page to flag operational changes at Melbourne Tullamarine from 6 October 2026. From that date, dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones for Terminals 1–3 will shift, and vehicles overstaying the two-minute limit will be subject to automatic number-plate recognition and fines. The update was posted on 25 September. While the measure is driven by the airport—not the airline—it will affect thousands of Qantas passengers each day, especially corporate road-warriors and chauffeur services meeting international arrivals. Ground transport providers will need to re-register for commercial-vehicle permits and brief drivers on the new loop road. Qantas is urging customers to allow extra time during the transition and to confirm meeting points with their drivers in advance. Mobility coordinators booking airport transfers should update vouchers and passenger instructions to avoid missed flights or penalty fees. The change comes as Melbourne Airport prepares for a bumper summer schedule with seat capacity projected to exceed pre-pandemic levels by 7 %.
