A dramatic security incident at Wrocław’s Nicolaus Copernicus Airport has ended with a Tunisian national receiving a decade-long ban on entering the Schengen Area. According to a 24 September Border Guard communiqué, the 23-year-old scaled the airport fence before dawn on 22 September and mingled with passengers boarding a LOT flight to Palermo. Cabin crew noticed the unauthorised individual once boarding was complete and alerted ground staff. A Special Intervention Unit escorted the man off the aircraft without incident; subsequent checks revealed he lacked any travel document and had no legal basis to be in Poland. The District Court later ruled that the individual posed a flight-risk and authorised immediate administrative removal. Under Article 28 of Poland’s Foreigners Act, he was issued a 10-year re-entry ban covering all Schengen member states and was placed in a guarded detention centre pending deportation. For airport operators and corporate aviation teams the case underscores the importance of perimeter security and passenger reconciliation procedures. Employers sending staff through Wrocław should anticipate heightened ID checks in the coming days as authorities review access-control protocols.
