A special notice updated on 27 September lists 13 additional Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong High-Speed Rail (HSR) services—train G5866 among them—while reminding motorists that land ports such as Lok Ma Chau and Shenzhen Bay may impose ad-hoc lane closures if congestion spikes. According to the bulletin, HSR West Kowloon station added trains to Futian and Shenzhen North specifically for 25-27 September, reflecting demand from travellers returning from family gatherings and shopping trips on the Mainland. The Immigration Department’s open-data feed shows daily passenger movements exceeding 1.2 million on Saturday, well above the pre-holiday average. TD is urging private-car permit holders under the “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles” scheme to check the Specified-Date Booking System before heading to the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB). Failure to adhere to booked slots could lead to suspension of permits, the agency warns. Bus operators running the popular “Gold Bus” shuttle have deployed extra vehicles but still expect wait times of 40 minutes at peak. For corporate mobility managers the message is two-fold: advise Hong-Kong-based staff to factor in potential 30-60-minute delays at land control points, and consider shifting travellers to rail, which now offers later-night departures. TD’s HKeMobility app provides live CCTV feeds of vehicle plazas, making it easier to reroute staff in real time. Firms with employees on tight Monday-morning schedules should review contingency hotel options in Kowloon and the New Territories.
