Foreign nationals planning to visit Ministry of the Interior (MOI) offices on 28 September found the doors closed as the Czech Republic observed its Statehood Day public holiday. An advisory on the MOI’s Information Portal for Foreigners reminded applicants that all branch offices and client-service centres would be closed not only on 28 September but also on the next national holiday, 28 October. The closure affects all in-person appointments for residence permits, biometric data capture, visa extensions and employee-card collections. Electronic reservation slots that fell on Monday were automatically cancelled, and MOI has asked applicants to re-book via its online system. Postal submissions and data-mailbox filings continue to be accepted, but processing will resume on Tuesday 29 September. Corporate mobility teams with end-of-month filing deadlines—particularly for blue-card modifications and temporary-protection renewals—should verify that couriers reach MOI filing rooms by close of business on Friday or use the data-mailbox option. Employers sponsoring new hires are advised to adjust start-dates if labour-office confirmation depends on MOI stamping. The next service interruption is scheduled for Independent Czechoslovak State Day on 28 October; mobility managers are encouraged to plan employee appointments accordingly to avoid cascading delays in residence processing.
