From Sunday afternoon 27 September until 21:00 on 28 September, Czech road authorities closed exit 16 on the Prague ring road (D0) toward the D1 motorway to apply a new anti-skid surface. The closure forces traffic—including many logistics vans servicing industrial parks and travellers driving to the airport from Brno and Austria— to continue to the next interchange and double back. The National Traffic Information Centre reported queues of up to four kilometres on Sunday evening as drivers unfamiliar with the diversion slowed to re-route. Long-haul passengers returning rental cars to PRG missed check-in cut-offs, while several relocation firms delivering household goods to new expatriate arrivals rescheduled drop-offs. Although clearly signed, the detour adds 10–15 minutes in light traffic and up to 30 minutes at peak. Employers with staff mobility programmes have circulated alerts, recommending alternative routes via exits 12 or 21 or use of rail for time-critical airport transfers. The Directorate of Roads and Motorways says the high-friction overlay will improve safety before winter but has urged companies to monitor further overnight closures later in the week as work progresses.
