Czech Railways (České dráhy) has issued an alert that construction associated with the Prague Ring Road will severely limit capacity on the busy S9 suburban rail corridor between Praha-Uhříněves and Říčany from 12 October to 3 November 2026. Only one track will be available, forcing most regional trains to terminate at Praha-Uhříněves and requiring passengers to transfer to replacement bus service XS9 or re-timed express trains. The S9 line is a commuter lifeline for thousands of professionals who live in the Central Bohemian satellite towns of Říčany and Strančice but work in Prague’s IT parks and corporate offices. During the three-week blockade, journey times could increase by 10 minutes, and peak-hour seating capacity will be partially offset by adding stops for express service R49 and lengthening train sets. While the disruption is domestic, mobility managers for multinationals based in Prague’s southeast corridor—near Chodov and Pankrác—should update employee travel policies and advise staff to consult the temporary timetable. Czech Railways tickets as well as PID and OneTicket passes will be accepted on the buses, mitigating fare complexity for business travellers. The works are part of a long-term project to relocate tracks that were temporarily shifted a year ago to accommodate Ring Road construction near Říčany. Once completed, the restored alignment is expected to raise line speed limits and create capacity for additional express services. Companies with time-sensitive meetings can mitigate risk by encouraging remote work or flexible hours on affected days. Real-time updates will be available via the PID Lítačka app and the Správa železnic website.
