Czech carrier Smartwings will begin direct flights between Prague (Václav Havel Airport) and Lisbon on 23 October 2026, adding a new point-to-point option for business and leisure travellers during the winter timetable. According to the airline’s schedule update, the route will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, complementing existing TAP Air Portugal services and bringing the carrier’s Portuguese network from Prague to four destinations. Lisbon joins Porto, Funchal (Madeira) and Ponta Delgada (Azores) as part of Smartwings’ expanded European network for the 2026/27 winter season. Aviation data specialist AeroRoutes notes that, while Smartwings has deferred several new routes to March 2027, the Lisbon launch remains on track – signalling the importance of the Iberian market for Czech outbound tourism and export-oriented SMEs. For corporate travel managers the new frequencies offer additional inventory and pricing competition on a route popular with technology and renewable-energy firms that maintain dual offices in Prague and Portugal’s capital. Flight times arrive in Lisbon mid-morning and return to Prague early afternoon, allowing same-day meetings or onward connections to South America and West Africa via TAP’s hub. Prague Airport expects the service to add around 30 000 seats over the winter and says it will help diversify long-haul feeder traffic once the EU’s Entry/Exit System is fully bedded in. Travellers should note that Smartwings’ hand-baggage policy differs from TAP’s and that tickets booked in Light or Plus classes do not include free seat selection. The airline is currently offering promotional round-trip fares from €149 for travel up to mid-December.
