Independent site Australian Visa Tracker, which scrapes Home Affairs data daily, reports that the median time to finalise 90% of applications across 43 visa subclasses has fallen from 219 to 192 days since 9 June 2025 – a 27-day gain. Figures were updated on 18 October at 12:00 AEST. Biggest winners include the Temporary Activity 408 (Australian Government Endorsed Events) visa, 273 days faster, and the Skilled Work Regional 491 visa, 224 days faster. By contrast, Training 407 visa times lengthened by 213 days. The data corroborate Home Affairs’ claim that extra funding for offshore processing centres and automated risk-screening is bearing fruit. Employers should nonetheless factor in continued variability: Partner 309 visas still average 2.5 years, while some 189 Skilled Independent cases date back five. Regularly checking third-party trackers allows mobility teams to set realistic assignment start-dates and reduce costly holding patterns.
