Brussels Airport has warned travellers that its car parks are ‘very busy’ because school holidays in Belgium, northern France and the Netherlands overlap this week. In an update posted on 21 October, the airport said only a limited number of spaces will be available through Thursday and urged passengers to use public transport or pre-book parking online. The advisory comes as the airport expects passenger volumes to peak at 90 % of pre-pandemic levels—about 70,000 departures per day—due to the autumn break. Long-stay car parks P3 and P4 were reported at 95 % occupancy by mid-morning, while the drop-off zone faced 30-minute queues. Business travellers should factor in extra time for ground access and consider the airport’s dedicated fast-lane security passes, which remain available for purchase. Companies operating mobility programmes may also wish to remind employees that Belgian rail services to the airport are running on an enhanced timetable during the holiday period, offering four trains per hour from Brussels-Midi. The airport reiterated that flight operations are unaffected, but said any parking-related delays that cause passengers to miss check-in deadlines will be treated under airlines’ standard ‘no-show’ policies—meaning travellers could lose the value of their ticket. Advance planning is therefore essential for expatriates and assignees flying out this week.
